How to get a rebate from GVEC for purchasing a new AC system!

Qualify for GVEC Rebates When You Buy a New AC System from Air & Plumbing Today

Purchasing a new, high-efficiency air conditioning system can significantly enhance your home’s comfort, reduce your monthly electric bills, and positively impact the environment. Fortunately, members of Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) have an additional incentive to upgrade their home’s HVAC systems: generous rebates offered specifically for high-efficiency AC and heating system installations.

Here is everything you need to know about GVEC rebates and how Air & Plumbing Today simplifies this process for you.

Why GVEC Offers AC Rebates

GVEC is dedicated to helping its members become more energy-efficient. Because heating and cooling expenses typically account for about 50% of a household’s energy usage, upgrading to a more efficient system can dramatically lower your electric bills. GVEC rebates help offset some of the upfront costs of investing in energy-efficient systems, making your purchase decision even more affordable.

General GVEC Rebate Qualifications

To be eligible for GVEC’s AC system rebates, there are some important qualifications:

  • You must be a GVEC member, and the AC/heating system must serve a property that receives electricity from GVEC
  • All improvements must be completed by a licensed contractor
  • Rebates will only be issued directly to GVEC members
  • Allow up to six weeks after submitting all required documents for the rebate credit
  • GVEC retains the right to inspect and verify installations to ensure compliance with program guidelines
  • Government-funded improvements and mini-split/ductless AC systems do not qualify

Specific AC System Requirements for Rebates

For your new AC installation to qualify, it must meet the following criteria:

  • System Type: An all-electric heat pump with a 17 SEER2 rating or greater
  • Auxiliary Heating: Controlled by an outdoor temperature sensor set at the system’s balance point, ensuring auxiliary heat only operates when necessary
  • Outdoor Thermostat Settings: If set above 35°, a balance point diagram is required
  • Air Distribution System: Must be properly sealed or repaired following manufacturer’s instructions and current building codes
  • Equipment Replacement: Both the condensing unit and the air handler/evaporator coil must be replaced as a matched set certified by AHRI (Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute)
  • Manual J Calculation: The Manual J 8th Edition load calculation must be conducted, documenting sensible and total BTU gains at standard design conditions (75° indoor temperature, 63° wet bulb, 97° outdoor temperature). The sensible load must not exceed 15% of the calculated load
  • Compliance: Installation must follow manufacturer instructions, state and local building codes

Required Supporting Documentation

GVEC requires the following supporting documents to process your rebate:

  • Manual J 8th Edition Load Calculation: Demonstrates accurate sizing of your new AC system
  • Balance Point Diagram (if applicable): Required when thermostat settings are above 35°
  • Signed Invoice: Must show completed work. Estimates are not accepted
  • AHRI Certificate: Confirms the system meets the specified efficiency ratings
